Kate Winkler Keating, Managing Partner, joined DGI after working in Congress for over two decades.
Kate is one of the most trusted advisors in Washington to House Democrats in Congress. Her knowledge of leadership’s priorities, key lawmakers, and insights into the decision-making process of Congressional Democrats is key to ensuring DGI’s clients successfully advance priorities and implement forward-thinking strategies.
Prior to joining DGI, Kate served in several senior-level positions on Capitol Hill. Most recently, she was the Chief of Staff to former Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-NY) and oversaw his rise in the House Democratic Caucus, including his election as Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, Vice Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, and Chairman of the New Democrat Coalition (an influential coalition of 100+ center-left Members of Congress).
Earlier in her career, Kate worked as Legislative Director for Rep. Allyson Schwartz (D-PA), a member of the Ways and Means Committee, and as Appropriations Associate for Rep. Nita Lowey (D-NY), serving as her key staffer at the Labor-HHS-Education Appropriations Subcommittee. During her tenure with Rep. Lowey, Kate authored The Food Allergen and Labeling Protection Act (P.L. 108-282). The measure improved the lives of those with life-threatening food allergies by requiring food ingredient statements to disclose the presence of major allergens (i.e. peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish) more clearly.
A native of New Jersey, Kate graduated from the University of Rochester with a B.A. in anthropology.
